Steven “The Quiet Man” Ward is a professional boxer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who competed in the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions. Over a nine-year career, he achieved 15 wins in 19 fights before recently announcing his retirement.

Dr Gavin Thomas, MD MB BCh BAO MRCPS(Glasg), is an interventional cardiologist working across the Ulster, Royal Victoria and Lagan Valley Hospitals. His special interests include general cardiology; assessment of chest pain and coronary artery disease, coronary angioplasty and stent insertion; palpitations, collapses and heart rhythm management; shortness of breath and heart failure assessment and management; hypertension; valvular heart disease assessment and management; cardiovascular risk assessment; inherited and familial cardiac conditions, pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disease.
Gavin received his medical degree from Queens University and progressed through his postgraduate training in Northern Ireland prior to completing and interventional fellowship at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He received a postgraduate doctorate for his research into novel biomarkers and imaging in the assessment and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disease.

Dr Maeve Dooher, MB, FRCS (Urol), MCH Urology, underwent her undergraduate medical training at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating in 2006. Her core surgical training was completed in Northern Ireland. She was appointed to higher surgical training in Scotland in 2013. During this time Maeve was awarded the Master of Surgery degree (ChM) from the University of Edinburgh and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Having attained the certificate of completion of training in Urology (CCT) In 2018, she returned home to start her consultant practice at the South Eastern Trust.
Maeve has been lead clinician of the Urology Department at the Ulster Hospital Dundonald since January 2023 . During her tenure to date there has been successful implementation of the regional Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy service within South Eastern Trust. The first Aqua-ablation treatment on the Island of Ireland was performed in May 2025.
A keen educationalist and surgical trainer, Maeve has been appointed as Training Programme Director for Urology Specialty Training in Northern Ireland . She continues her role as Sub-Deanery clinical lecturer of undergraduate students within SET. Maeve is also a member of the Surgical Specialty Board of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, ensuring Urologists’ specialist and professional interests have appropriate representation within the College.
